Finally - five minutes to myself. All the nominations are in for the Lib Dems in the City elections here in Lincoln - sigh of relief breathed.

Now its time to focus on the campaign. Just about to start the city standard leaflet to go out.

Two days in and I'm already shattered!! 28 days to go!!

Looking forward to meeting the people of Park Ward over the next four weeks.

Good luck to all other in the Lib Dems standing for the elections (whether local or Parliamentary)

First Timer Voters' Question Time

Having just watch 'FTVGT' I feel ashamed to be a young person.

One audience member said that politicians don't talk about anything that affects her as a young person. Well, that really got my goat. Surely everything effects everyone.

Whether its Health, Education (including Universities), Crime, Defence or Care of the Elderly, it applies to all of us. Maybe at different points any in different ways, but it touches us all.
Health matters because it's likely ourselves or someone close to us uses it at some point (and it's likely if we have children they'll be brought into the world by the NHS).
Education because many young people are still in the system whether at 6th form, college or university.
Crime as it can be anyone that is a target or victim of crime. Students are one of the highest groups that experience theft and personal attacks.
Defence as we all live in this country and can serve in the forces or know someone in the forces.
Care of the Elderly as it will hit us all at some point and most of us have elderly relatives or people who need specialist care.

So don't think just because you are young it doesn't matter - because it does!!!

New Starts and a few Goodbyes

I've decided to clear out my blog and start again!

The local election campaign in Lincoln will be getting going very soon. However, our general election campaign is already underway with Focus leaflet going out to every single house in the constituency. We have been going now for about 4 weeks and we are very nearly done with just a few areas still left to do.

I have been out today along Skellingthorpe Road and the Almond Avenue area of Boultham Ward. There was one house that had a sign on the front reading, 'If you can read this please use the back. If not, please feel free to use the front.'

Just currently watching the 'One Show' on BBC One about the Bethnal Green tube station tragedy were 173 people died being crushed and suffocating during a rush to get down to the tube being used as an Air-Raid Shelter. There still is no proper memorial to those who lost their lives in the panic 73years ago today. I hope those families achieve the goal to get a memorial and hopefully, in turn, find a little peace.

Finally tonight, I'd just like to pay a small tribute to Keith Alexander, former manager of Lincoln City, who passed away last night after watching his Macclesfield team play Notts County. You will be sorely missed and thank you for leading the Imps to four consecutive seasons in the play-offs. God rest Keith.
